Thanks to this exhibition, two cities of a former Eastern Europe, East Berlin and Budapest, come to life in historical images and contemporary photographs. An emphatic element of the display is the image created for the city after the reunification of Berlin, in association with the demolition of the wall. The featured German artists of this group exhibition are Sibylle Bergemann, who photographed streets and life in East Berlin in the 1970s and 1980s, and a contemporary duo, Ute and Werner Mahler, whose series, (2011–2014), presents ordinary young girls from the suburbs in poses familiar from classical paintings, in black and white, which lends these portraits a timeless feel.
