What Has Remained, the series that gave its title to the exhibition, is based on dailies that were published on the day Réka was born, and were subsequently given to her by her brother on her 18th birthday. On each page, a composition of objects was placed, with a symbolism that stems from her past, or reflects a recognition of some fact in her present life. The newspaper article itself may or may not make a contribution to the complete meaning of a given composition. The pieces serve to process memories of careless childhood and nostalgia for them, or a period fraught with painful illnesses. If each image provides a form for facts she holds important, it also encourages the recipient to immerse herself in the abstraction, and create her own meanings with a reliance on her own feelings.
