Tamás Dobos's exhibition, titled W, deals with the layers of perception, the altering of visual meaning as you approach a picture. The possibility - that is almost an expectation- to change our perspective between close and distant encourages the viewer to have a moving observation. The dynamics of geometric ornaments known from Hungarian folk art and various periods of art, such as Secession, keeps the world created by Dobos in motion. In addition, the discursiveness of reflected forms is an important aspect of the narrative, an articulation of the conflict generated by multiplying mythological figures and themes in which searching for the twin soul is emphasized. Although, reflection can be detected in his previous artworks, its musicality is much more pronounced in this current series. These reflected figures and motifs are abstracted into a serial pattern if seen from a distance, while the basic imaging unit appears in the microlayer where the mythological characters unfold.
Tamás Dobos labels each of his exhibitions with a letter of the alphabet, which can manifest into a word later if combined. W represents the ability of double reflection.
